Between the Sevens — North Central Phoenix

A small town, hiding in America's fifth-largest city.

Everything about North Central Phoenix — the blocks, the schools, the irrigation days, the numbers — kept in one place by the agent born and raised here.

How well do you know North Central?

One question. Then nine more if you want them.

Forty-six sourced questions about North Central Phoenix — the water, the schools, the corridor, the restaurants. Start right here.

The Neighborhood Now

An irrigation lateral dating to Murphy's original water system still runs here. What did a 2002 SRP survey conclude about it?

Learn It By Playing

Nobody learns a neighborhood from a brochure.

Guess a real closed sale, then go wandering. Everything here runs on actual numbers from the corridor — no estimates, no invented comps.

The Feeling

Some streets remember what childhood felt like.

Looking down the block on Myrtle Avenue, single-story homes tucked behind hedges and mature trees.

The Bridle Path

The Murphy Bridle Path still runs the length of Central, dirt soft under the mesquites. You can hear hooves before you see the horse, and nobody here thinks that's unusual.

Flood-irrigated backyard lawn, deep green under a big shade tree with stepping stones through it.

Irrigation Mornings

Irrigation day still smells like childhood here. The water comes up over the grass and the whole street turns green-gold before breakfast.

Quiet Myrtle Avenue frontage in the afternoon, low walls and old shade trees along the street.

The Tree Tunnels

Certain blocks close overhead into a green tunnel by June. Kids ride through it at dusk with the porch lights coming on one by one behind them.

The most reliably North Central thing on the calendar is the Uptown Farmers Market at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 North Central Avenue, Saturdays 7am to 11am year round, with the Wednesday market returning in October. Beyond that, five fall events already have confirmed 2026 dates — the Queen Creek Olive Mill Garlic Festival, the Arizona State Fair, Four Peaks Oktoberfest, Phoenix Pride, and the October 17 race weekend — while several annual favorites have not published 2026 dates as of August 2026.

Madison Elementary School District No. 38 is an elementary district only, PreK through 8, so it has no high school of its own — every North Central Phoenix family makes a separate high school decision, usually between Central High School, Madison Highland Prep, or private schools like Brophy and Xavier. Attendance boundaries are set by address, not neighborhood, and must be confirmed with the district before you write an offer.
